Long weekend FOMO

Hi!

I have today off and tomorrow as well. Here are my plans:

  1. Today is almost gone and all I did was... sleep and lay around. I just came from a walk and it's only 9C here today which is really refreshing.
  2. Tomorrow, I will be accompanying my partner to the airport who is going to the U.S. for 10 days. After some unnecessarily expensive breakfast at the airport, I will be meeting with my mom downtown, so that we can have lunch together or just walk around and chitchat. I will probably spend the rest of the day cleaning because my home is kind of a mess, especially the bathroom and the floors. If you need to stop by to pee because you are in the area, go into a bush please. My bathroom is a MESS.
  3. On Saturday, I will probably buy some groceries and... chill. Maybe go for a walk, dunno.
  4. On Sunday, I will ride my bike some and visit my parents for breakfast.

The FOMO part about my post is that I feel like I should use my long weekend to go somewhere. Explore the word! Go to a spa! Go swimming! (actually, I might... why not) Visit another city! Stay in another city!

But why? Thankfully, I live in Germany and I currently get 27 days of PTO a year, excluding holidays, so I have plenty of time to travel. Why shouldn't I enjoy the random days off sprinkled in between workdays (thank you, Catholic Jesus) by relaxing and catching up on things I didn't get to do during week? Knowing myself, I will probably not want to go out again after being out on Friday. So yeah, I will clean, buy myself some groceries, maybe bake a cake and just chill. Actually, I may get myself a muffin form because I want to start making muffins and cupcakes.

The reason why I feel some fomo is also probably because I am afraid of "wasting my free time," but I have learned that time off only feels wasted if I spend it at home on my phone all day. I've learned that simply the act of talking a walk, going out for dinner or simply just being on the balcony semi-mindfully reading a book or solving some crosswords makes time feel well spent and that is all that I care about. After all, all time off work is time well spent.
