Rambling about the weather and reading
Hello,
Life has just been pretty normal. The heat is gone, thankfully, and yet I am still wearing shorts in 16C-22C degree weather while all my windows are open. The weather in Germany is either waterboarding wet or burning oven from hell. I think I still prefer waterboarding wet. Dunno.
The days are getting shorter and I am starting to notice the toll darkness takes on me. I am happy that it is not sunny until about 10 pm anymore, but at the same time I wish it only got dark at around 9 pm. That's a good time to wind down and get ready for the night. Unfortunately, I know that in November and December it is going to be dark by the time I finish working, at 5 pm, and there won't be anything that can be done about it. I guess I just have to adapt and make the best of every day.
I am kind of at a loss still. I have plans in my life, but after quitting social media and only regularly talking to a few people, all of whom don't live near me, I am not sure what I want from life, especially on the weekend. I romanticize waking up, cooking an awesome breakfast and maybe even baking something fun. Then on the days that I do it, it kind of just becomes work. I have to clean the kitchen first, prepare everything I need for it, bake it, clean up again, let it cool and then enjoy my work for 5 minutes. I need something else. Something that gives me a sense of progress, is not a lot of effort, and can be done any time. I want it to be reading, but I keep struggling to do it. I think I will need to officially challenge myself. I used to do this all the time and while it felt like a chore in the beginning, I ended up reading a lot of books and enjoying it.
I have decided to have my physical books that I read. I would choose two books. I have a book about fungi and one book I got in Romania about the author's childhood which I should have been done with probably 3 months ago. I will focus on these two and switch between them when I don't feel like reading one. I've also decided on what to do with my phone. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through my pics, banking app, emails and youtube subscriptions every 10 minutes, I will read a book on it too, but not any book. I will always have a book handy that I have already read before. This way, I won't feel like it's not worth opening the app because "who knows when I will get back to it" or "I don't have the time to read a whole chapter." It doesn't matter! I already know what's going to happen. I can even legally skip a page or an entire chapter!
Lately, I've also felt... I don't know how to put this... dyslexic? I feel like I have become less capable of expressing my thoughts; I edit my messages and texts and just mess everything up by deleting two words instead of one without realizing it. I think reading could also help with this, but I am also considering journaling and bullet-journaling every day, and to make things more exciting, I plan on doing it in English, German, Romanian, Dutch and French. LOL. The first three languages would actually just be me mindlessly and freely journaling while the last two would be me attempting to use what I have learned.
I don't know. It is late and I should go to bed. I am sleepy now, but it felt really nice to sit down and write something semi-coherent.
Now go and treat yourself to something nice! You deserve it.
